Why choose circle studio?
A little bit about me…

I’m David Hares and I set up circle studio with a passion for weddings and a love for documentary photography.  I’ve always been drawn to an honest and unobtrusive reportage style, and when I talk about my work I’m keen to emphasise that I’m not one of those cheesy wedding photographers.

I stumbled into weddings by taking photos of my friends’ nuptials – and then other friends asked me too after they saw the results. Since then I’ve photographed over 150 weddings all over the UK and worldwide, from lavish London society weddings to fairy-lit teepees on Dartmoor, and everything in between. My wedding photography has been recognised in the Wedding Photojournalist Association competitions a number of times.

I’m married to Lucy, and have a young daughter, a mini sausage dog called Maggie and naughty fat cat, Maeve. We moved to Salisbury in 2017 for the ‘good life’ after 20 years living in central London.

When I’m not shooting weddings I run a successful commercial photography business (davidhares.com) working with FSTE100 companies on annual reports, branding and lifestyle photography. I’ve worked for global brands and photographed all over the world.

My style of wedding photography

My style of photography is candid, informal and natural, drawn from my love of documentary photography and photojournalism. I won’t spend ages setting things up or bossing you about to pose in different ways.

I prefer to just photograph the day as it happens. Although I work in a very reportage way I try to make the most of the light and locations from your wedding. I continually strive to make interesting and fun images, capturing the laughter, tears and emotion of your friends and family over the course of the day.

I aim to be the subtle guest with a camera who always happens to be in the right place at the right time. I might chat briefly to people to capture their interaction and good humour, but will always blend in and not get in anyone's way.

I will spend a small amount of time in the day taking creative and thoughtful photographs of you as a couple, and others with your family group too – but the best images are nearly always the natural ones, when you and your family are unaware.

Take a look at the photographs in the portfolio and weddings sections of my website – they should give you a good idea of how I love to shoot, and the story-telling images you will receive after your big day.
